Most movie buffs associate vibrant color with classics like *The Wizard of Oz* or *Gone with the Wind*, but the first feature film shot entirely in the revolutionary three-strip Technicolor process was actually *Becky Sharp*, released four years earlier in 1935.
While earlier films experimented with a limited two-strip Technicolor, the groundbreaking three-strip process used a prism to split light onto three separate black-and-white negatives for red, green, and blue, allowing for a full spectrum of naturalistic colors. *Becky Sharp*, a historical drama based on William Makepeace Thackeray's novel *Vanity Fair*, was a crucial technical achievement for its time.
