Did you know? Black Holes 'Sing' the Deepest Note in the Universe?
While space is a true vacuum where sound cannot travel, astronomers have detected incredibly low-frequency pressure waves emanating from a supermassive black hole, generating what's essentially the deepest "note" ever recorded in the universe.
These immense "sound waves" were observed in the hot gas surrounding the supermassive black hole at the center of the Perseus galaxy cluster by NASA's Chandra X-ray Observatory. The "note" is approximately 57 octaves below middle C, meaning a single complete wave would take millions of years to pass. This phenomenon demonstrates how the black hole's activity creates pressure disturbances that propagate through the gas, preventing it from cooling and forming new stars, and offering vital clues about galactic evolution.
